Could
anything be hotter than a hunky fireman head over heels in love? Yep. How
about THREE hunky firemen head over heels in love?? Cathryn Fox delivers the
goods in her novel The Hot Line, releasing March 4, 2008. This
collection of sensual romances revolving around a firehouse in Chicago is just
the thing to usher in the warmer months this spring!
This particular firehouse has a special number for women looking for a night of
unforgettable passion with a fireman ready and willing to fulfill their fondest
fantasies. But three firemen in particular stoke the blaze a lot hotter when
they turn up the heat on the women of their dreams!
~Fever~
Working
for a small town paper back in Trenton, Iowa is hardly the stuff a reporter’s
dreams are made of. When Sara Jack is given the exclusive number for The
Hot Line, she knows she has stumbled into a career-making story that
will guarantee her a job at a big Chicago newspaper. It’s all about the story –
that’s the only reason she is calling The Hot Line. Yeah, right…
Mitch Adams is a no-strings attached playboy, good for a fling but not into
relationships. That’s the warning Sara’s friend Cassie gives her concerning the
sexy firefighter. Suddenly, nothing sounds better than an out of town fling
with none other than Mitch himself, and The Hot Line is her ticket
to a night of pleasure she is sure Mitch can deliver on. But flings have a way
of becoming so much more when you least expect it…
Although I loved all of the men in The Hot Line, I think that
Mitch Adams is my favorite. Maybe it is the whole misunderstood bad boy who has
just never found the right woman thing he has going on, but he totally got to
me. He may be a playboy at first, but that certainly all seems to change for
him the moment he lays eyes on charming small town girl, Sara.
And what isn’t there to like about Sara? Although delightfully guileless, she
doesn’t hesitate at participation in some very sexy role playing games with the
hunky fireman of her dreams, showing him she is more than eager to fulfill his
own fantasies – something that takes him very much by surprise.
With their easy banter and inventive role-playing, this couple entertains us
with a fun and light-hearted romance that made me giggle more than once. But
don’t let those giggles fool you – there is more than enough heat to go along
with those laughs in this hot little story!

Jenna
Powers has come a long way from the chubby little girl with braces she used to
be to a beautiful and talented lingerie designer with her own budding business.
Scheduled to do an important lingerie show by her friend Cassie, things turn
disastrous when her model falls ill at the very last minute. With no available
stand-in, things turn even more disastrous – Jenna must model her lingerie
personally.
The only thing going right is that the sexy fireman she’s been fantasizing about
left before the show started. If she has to make a fool out of herself, at
least it won’t be in front of Dean Beckman…
Dean can hardly believe his eyes when he returns from a liquor run to find Jenna
modeling a Siren-red negligee in front of a room full of people! He’s been
dreaming of seeing the buxom beauty in the lingerie she designs, but never
thought he would have the chance. But Dean is never one to let an opportunity
slip by him…
I said earlier in this review that Mitch was my favorite, but Dean Beckman sure
did give him a run for his money! With a unique blend of subtle dominance and
sensitivity heightened by his psychology studies, Dean is quick to recognize
Jenna’s physical insecurities and resolves to see her through them. Refusing to
let her hide from either him or herself, he forces her to see herself through
his eyes, to feel her own beauty and femininity, giving her a gift as precious
as his love – self-confidence.
What woman has never experience insecurities similar to those that prey on
Jenna’s confidence? Having spent her youth overweight and teased by her
classmates, she has never shaken the image of herself as frumpy, even though her
looks have certainly grown out of that description. Although uncertain at
first, she follows Dean’s lead and allows him to employ a rather unorthodox
method of changing her self-image…
Once they work past her issues, they embark on some very steamy love scenes
guaranteed to set off sparks worthy of any five-alarm fire!

Sous
Chef Megan Wagner has a way of speaking before thinking, and what she is usually
thinking about these days is the hotter than hot firefighter Brady Wade. Brady,
in turn, has a way of turning her words and the situation to their mutual
advantage in the sexiest of ways…
But Brady isn’t out for a quick romp, he wants forever with the sassy little
cook. Convincing divorcee Megan he is nothing like her deadbeat ex-husband is
going to take some work, but he has cooked up a plan guaranteed to sweep her off
her feet…
The third story in Ms. Fox’s The Hot Line is perhaps one of the
most poignant. Here is a woman who, having been burned badly before, is afraid
to trust in love again. Too many of us can identify with Megan on this score.
Although afraid to open herself up emotionally, it does not prevent her from
enjoying a little one on one with Brady, which is just the first step in his
multi-layered plan to slip past her defenses.
Doing for others comes naturally for Brady, and doing for Megan is more than his
pleasure. And that is his secret weapon to showing Megan how completely
opposite he is from her ex, who expected everything to be done for him.
In the end, Megan realizes what Brady is offering and is surprised to find
herself eager and ready to take him up on it – a loving partnership of equals in
a give and take relationship that has all it needs to go the distance.
