One drunken night night on vacation in Cabo with her two best friends, Paige
made a pretty outrageous wish after the three women had purchased woven
bracelets purported to grant the wearer one wish when it fell off.
A little over a year later, and Paige’s bracelet finally fell off. Before she
could say “Bibbidy, bobbidy, boo”, an honest to goodness fairy showed up ready
to grant that very wish.
So now Paige is looking at spending a passion-filled night with a real life
werewolf, re-enacting her favorite love scenes straight out of her romance
novels. If it hadn’t been for the wand-carrying fairy, she might be more
skeptical about the whole deal.
When Adam shows up, all doubts flee from her mind, and she is more than taken
with her handsome wolf. From the very first time he scents her, Adam feels the
same way about the sexy little human.
It isn’t long before they are both thinking about each other past the 24-hour
period the wish grants them. But a mating between a werewolf and a human can
never work – history has proven this again and again. Is their love doomed
before it even has a chance?
When I read the first book in Kate Willoughby’s BE-WISHED series,
I was spellbound. This author has a knack for spinning romances that are both
fun and sexy – a combination I am a complete fool for.
A WOLF AT HER DOOR is the second story in the series, but can be
easily read as a standalone even if you haven’t read its predecessor, ALL
IN. Although the stories share the same world and the characters from
the first book enjoy an appearance in the sequel, they are not dependent on each
other for story flow.
Ms. Willoughby kept me giggling with the wit she infuses into each page of the
book, obviously having as much fun with this story as her readers will. She
manages to keep the story amusing, never silly, and yet infuses it with a great
big dose of sex appeal.
Of course, it would be hard to not have sex appeal with an appealing hero like
Adam. If I were going to fall for a werewolf, I daresay I would want him to be
just like Adam. This guy is simultaneously strong, sensitive, caring, and
noble. He’d do anything to help those he cares for, even if it means
sacrificing something he holds dear.
It’s easy to see why he would feel this way about his heroine, Paige. She is
sweet, impulsive, engaging, and supportive – and the sexiest female he has ever
seen, human or shifter.
The relationship is not without its obstacles, however. Their separate species
is a major hurdle. One little slip-up by their well-meaning fairy is another
biggie. As with any good fairy tale and love story, things have a way of
working out for the best, and we ultimately enjoy an oh-so-sweet happy ending
along with Adam and Paige.
