Fallon is searching for a Vampire Master – not to master her, but to teach her how to kill another Master. On the run from the sadistic Vampire Master who murdered her young daughter and turned her into a vampire, she stops in Adrian’s town for rest and nourishment. But once he has tasted Fallon, Adrian is not willing to let her leave – ever – and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her at his side. Wow! I could sum up my entire review with that one word. I am completely enthralled by Mackenzie McKade’s cowboy vampires! For those of us who love series stories, this one promises opportunities for several more using the characters in this book and tidbits the author has laid in Fallon’s Revenge. Fallon is tortured, simultaneously strong and vulnerable, and absolutely heartbreaking without being pitiful. Any woman, mother or not, would feel her pain at losing her only child by the murderous hands of the vampire who subsequently enslaved her. Fallon knows no peace, with nightmares of the incident, but her pain only serves to strengthen her resolve to rid the world of her Master’s evil. Adrian, while a Vampire Master himself, is the epitome of the heroic cowboy. Noble and protective of everyone in his care, he extends that protection to Fallon immediately. In Adrian, the author has created a hero both strong and caring but also with his own vulnerabilities. The writing is strong, the plot and subplots are complex yet easy to follow, and both the lead and supporting characters are engaging. This is a book I will definitely be reading again!
