A chance
encounter in a dark parking lot one night brings strangers Dixie and Bastian
together, although they are from far different worlds. Bastian can’t leave the
stranded Dixie to her own devices when her car breaks down, and comes to her
rescue. During the process, he finds himself captivated by her unconscious
charm and beauty.
Playing the good Samaritan unexpectedly leads to a night of incomparable
passion, in which Bastian knows he wants far more from the fresh, unspoiled
beauty. But Dixie insists that one night is all they can have. Not only must
Bastian break through her considerable defenses, but he must find a way to tell
her the truth of who he really is without losing her.
I am an
avid fan of the Incognito
series co-written by Madison Layle and Anna Leigh Keaton. Separately, these are
two very talented authors, and when they collaborate, the results are even more
combustible than usual! With the release of the seventh story in this series,
Desiring Dixie, this
writing team proves once again that they have what it takes to continue
surprising their fans. Each new couple we meet in these books brings a fresh
look at this intriguing world and builds expectations even higher for the
stories to come.
The Incognito
stories revolve around the members of an exclusive and discreet club for men and
women who share a common interest – BDSM. Some are into more intense BDSM play,
and others shows the lighter side to it. In all stories, the BDSM play and sex
is ‘safe, sane, and consensual’ (SSC.) ALWAYS. I’ll be frank, a year ago I
thought I didn’t enjoy books with the BDSM theme, but having read some
wonderfully romantic BDSM stories like these, I now understand how important SSC
is. Stories missing this fundamental element lean towards humiliation and
violence, something that is NEVER the case in the
Incognito stories. These
authors effortlessly show that BDSM relationships can be just as romantic and
full of real love as the lighter romances, perhaps more so because of the deep
trust necessary to make these relationships work.
Desiring Dixie falls
on the light side of the BDSM scale. As Bastian works to gain Dixie’s trust and
love, he introduces her to some light bondage, psychic orgasm, and some good
old-fashioned steamy sex. Needless to say, he gets her attention, along with
the reader’s! LOL For someone interested in testing the waters with BDSM
romance, this is a great story to start with. In fact, all of the books in this
saga can easily be read out of order, enabling new fans to jump in with the
tales that most interest them first. Reading them in order, of course, will
enhance the entertainment level since there are so many cross-over characters,
but there is no loss of comprehension by reading them randomly.
I adored Dixie and Bastian’s romance. I loved the fact that these two were from
totally different backgrounds and their relationship changed their perspectives
about the opposite social classes as they found not only love, but a better
understanding of the world at large. If there is a moral to this story, it is
certainly about keeping an open mind and never pre-judging a person based on
their upbringing.
I do think there is room to revisit these fascinating characters in a future
book. It would be great to see this couple star in another
Incognito book someday,
with Dixie and Bastian exploring the BDSM lifestyle more fully together. I, for
one, wouldn’t mind spending more time with these people.

Once again, I applaud Ms. Layle and Ms. Keaton’s work. I cannot say enough good
about these authors, so I will continue touting them to anyone who will listen!
It is my very distinct pleasure to give this story Wild on Books’ maximum rating
of five bookmarks!
