There are two sides to Angela, each with very different needs and appetites.  She’s been nicknamed a ‘submissive dominatrix’ at club Incognito, with good reason.  For the past year she’s been dating two men:  Garrett, who is very dominating and Blaine, who plays submissive to her dominatrix.

Garrett fulfills the part of her that needs to be mastered, the part craves beer from a bottle and ballgames on weekends.  Blaine fulfills everything the more cultured dominatrix inside her desires, whether in the bedroom or at the latest symphony concert.

Both men are vital to her happiness.  She could never choose between them, but now both men are pushing for a commitment.  Garrett and Blaine are polar opposites and she knows they’ll get along about as well as oil and water.  Can she convince them to attempt a life in a ménage relationship with her, or will she lose both the men she loves?

I have read and loved each of the previous Incognito books, but I will admit that I was hesitant to read Incognito:  Winning Angela.  See, I like my heroes to be very dominant, and I like the heroine to be fiery and independent, challenging the hero at every step, but ultimately submissive to him in the bedroom.  I’ve never been drawn to stories with submissive men and dominatrixes.  In spite of my trepidation, I finally decided I liked the previous books so much that I really had to read this one too, and I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised.  My fears concerning how submissive Blaine would be were needless, and the chemistry between the three lead characters was dynamite!

Watching Garrett and Blaine try to ‘out-man’ each other at every step was endlessly entertaining – and I can safely say that, since I am not in Angela’s shoes myself!  Yes, from the outside looking in, the antics between these two men might have been entertaining, but I felt Angela’s frustration as the two men she loves with all of her heart and soul pull at her like a favorite toy neither wants to share.

Blaine is submissive to a degree, but never spineless as I had feared he may be.  He proved the perfect foil to Garrett’s Alpha Male persona, and he taught me something about a submissive male – their desire to be submissive is borne of a desire to please their woman completely, by submitting to her every whim, fulfilling her every need, and allowing her the control to conduct their lovemaking.

While I loved Blaine, I absolutely adored Garrett.  If he could step off the pages and walk into my life, I would be one happy woman.  Of course, even if he could, I supposed it would do me no good since he is more than smitten with Angela.  Even at his most antagonistic, we see him pushing Blaine to be the man Angela needs him to be.  As Angela’s Dom, Garrett is resolved to provide her with everything she needs, even if that means Blaine.

I am really glad I read Incognito:  Winning Angela.  It gave me new perspective on the male submissive, along with a very sweet love story kicked up a few notches with the kind of spicy love scenes fans of the Incognito series have come to rely on.  I’m only sorry it took me a month to decide to read it!  Next time Madison Layle and Anna Leigh Keaton release a book in this series, I can assure you I won’t think twice about reading it.
