When Dr. Sinclair tells her he can no longer help her with psychiatric care, Rachel feels frantic. The feelings she is having can’t be normal, and they are starting to control her life. It was bad enough when they were just invading her dreams, disrupting her sleep, but now her dark sexual urges are creeping into her day and even affecting her work! Out of sheer desperation, she dials the mysterious number the doctor suggested she call as a final resort. Jonathon Sinclair wanted the beautiful high-powered lawyer from the moment she first came to him for help, yet knows it is inappropriate to pursue a patient. When he realizes without a doubt that her problems are being caused by the fact that she is a born submissive struggling with her sexuality, he determines to end their professional relationship with the hopes of kindling a new one – one more suited to Rachel’s problem. Jonathon and his brother Jackson are Dominants, adept with training submissives, and are used to sharing them. Making Rachel their pet fulfills more than her fantasies, but also their own, and they realize they will never be able to let her go… As the second book in the Incognito series, Incognito: Owning Rachel is a fantastic follow-up to another great story! Make no mistake, the title is just what it implies: this is a story with very intense BDSM themes, although all are very clearly consensual. The Sinclair brothers are firm with Rachel, but always considerate, reminding her that she can always use her safe word if she needs to. As with the first book in this series, Madison Layle presents some BDSM themes that may not necessarily suit all readers (including this reviewer), but she writes them in such a way that they are interesting, never offensive – no small feat when working in the BDSM genre, I am certain. When I mentioned before that this book has very intense BDSM themes, I am referring not only to the acts portrayed in the book, but also to the fact that the characters live ‘the life’ twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week – even in public. It should be obvious from the blurbs for Owning Rachel, but just in case it is not, I should point out that this book is about a ménage relationship, and so contains several M/F/M scenes. Ultimately, Owning Rachel is, however unexpectedly, a story with a moral. Rachel’s journey of self-discovery teaches us that we should never deny who we are, never stifle our true natures, and accept that love can come in many varied forms, even when those forms seem to stand outside society’s idea of the ‘norm’. Incognito: Owning Rachel is a must read for those who crave well-written BDSM romances with ménage relationships and will definitely be an intriguing read for anyone with a borderline interest in reading about the BDSM lifestyle.
