Decades ago, Nani and her lover, Darian fell victim to a cruel enemy, who ripped
their consciousness from their human bodies and implanted them as the
‘artificial’ intelligence in two ships – Black Star and Sword Breaker.
Now there is a way to restore them both to new bodies, and to life. As part of
the Black Star, Nani has watched her daughter find love and happiness. She
longs to finally hold her child in her own arms as much as she wants to be in
Darian’s embrace again.
But the technology that trapped their consciousness is old, and the restoration
process delicate. The loyalties of those they must trust their fate to are in
question, and the fate of the universe lies in the balance as much as Nani’s and
Darian’s own fates.
Fans of Marteeka Karland’s BLACK STAR series will undoubtedly be
as excited as I was by this fantastic conclusion to the saga! The plot has
built throughout each of the previous stories, and in UNITED we
finally learn the history behind how Nani and Darian became trapped in their
ships and find resolution for these beloved characters.
Nani’s love and determination make her a woman to be reckoned with as she fights
to save the man she loves and restore her family. In the process, she must
gather the information needed to establish peace between the Vok’nair Empire and
the Asalian Coalition. As it turns out, she and Darian are the key to bridging
the issues between these two governments.
As the mysteries are unraveled, we learn just how connected each of the
characters from the previous stories really are, with secrets previously unknown
even to themselves come to light.
Lovers of erotic romance in a science fiction setting will find the
intergalactic intrigues in the BLACK STAR series out of this
world, and fans of the series will be more than satisfied with the conclusion in
UNITED. You might even say they’d be ‘over the moon’… *grin* |
