Laura Brooks is in a bind. Literally. Alone and in Paris without a dime to her name and only the clothes on her back, she’s becoming more desperate by the moment. When she is hired as a courtesan and agrees to be part of an auction, Laura doesn’t hesitate to sign on the dotted line. After all, what’s three months of her life when at the end of her commitment she has enough money to go home? It’s not like she is going to have an orgasm anyway – she never has and suspects she never will. Although, if the man watching her from the audience has his say, Laura bets a climax is just around the corner. Nick Renault is only at the courtesan auction because he was bullied into it by his brother’s wife. Getting up to leave, Nick is instantly floored when a red head walks onto the stage. Taken in by her beauty as well as the somewhat innocent emotions he sees flicker across her face, Nick is intrigued and as such, finds himself bidding on her and winning. He tells himself he only bid on her to keep her from being the plaything of a possibly cruel Dom but if he were honest with himself he would know the truth. He bid on her because he wanted her and by the time their contract ends, he might not be able to let her go. A fan of Honey Jans’, I absolutely can not get enough of her D/s stories. ONCE IN LOVE WITH LAURA is no exception. Nick Renault guarded his heart to the extreme and while he was never cruel with Laura, he was dominant to the bone. His idea of discipline more than once made me blush and stammer as if I was the one receiving the punishment. I have to hand it to Laura though – she took everything Nick could dish out and more. I enjoyed watching both characters evolve throughout ONCE IN LOVE WITH LAURA. Laura learned about her body and she also learned about her heart. She found out that love is important and that what she thought was a failing, was not. The love scenes were delish and more than once I shivered in anticipation as to what delight Nick was going to expose Laura to next. ONCE IN LOVE WITH LAURA, while a romance, does have aspects of the BDSM scene. BDSM happens to be one of my favorite genres to read but even I often got flustered at Nick’s ability to play Laura like a finely tuned piano. He was sexy, he was dominant, and he was fascinating. I can think of nothing better than a hero with those qualities. ONCE IN LOVE WITH LAURA is available via Whiskey Creek Press Torrid. It is a book to be savored and read with a fan nearby and possibly a bucket of ice. It will set even the most frozen of heart aflame!
