Elena Caine knows she is caught. It is only a matter of time before the man that is blackmailing her, the man whose letter is in her pocket, calls the police. She has secrets of her past that she can’t allow to come to surface and so it is with a grave heart that Elena realizes she has to go through with her blackmailer’s demands. He wants her to plant evidence that will implicate a fellow coworker. A coworker that Elena desires – Kyler Pierce. Kyler, however, has other plans for Elena and they don’t have anything to do with work. Having spent the past ten years working his butt off for the very company in which he is supposedly stealing from, Kyler is dismayed and a bit disheartened to find out that the sweet and beautiful office assistant to whom he is attracted to is going to be the one to bring him down. Deciding that he has to stop her before she follows through, Kyler kidnaps Elena and takes her home. But, just when they are about to have a heart to heart talk and Kyler is to learn the hold Elena’s blackmailer has on her, they are interrupted. After the phone call Kyler’s entire demeanor changes. All bets are off and Elena Caine and her lies can go to the very devil. Kyler Pierce can kidnap me any day of the week. In all honesty, there is nothing about this enigmatic and sexy character that I did not like. He had every right to be mad at Elena and while he was furious, he was also in control of his emotions. He was able to bring out the best in Elena sexually and their exploration of each other and the world of D/s was beautifully written. I noticed a couple of scenes in BLACKMAILED that made me have questions. I did not like how so much focus was on the blackmail storyline and then boom, it was done. I felt that this one aspect of the book was hurried and not written as well as the rest of the book. The second scene I question was Elena’s secret. It was a pretty big one. It was one in which a real person would go to jail for and I wish somehow that I would have had closure to that one part of the book. Did she go to the police? How did Kyler accept her, secrets and all? These two things were minor annoyances but not big enough to take my enjoyment out of BLACKMAILED. Reading the blurb for Blackmailed, Tawny Taylor had me at the word “Dom”. Loving nothing better than a great BDSM novel, I was pleasantly surprised to find more than that in BLACKMAILED. I found emotions and wishes. Loving touches and desperation. A sinfully dominant man and the submissive that completed him. Not bad for a single night of reading. BLACKMAILED can be found in ebook format from Ellora’s Cave. |
