Tamara Briggs survived the death of her racecar driver husband in an accident and is now focused on her two children. Determined to protect herself and her children, she’s not about to get involved with another driver and risk her heart again. One adrenaline junkie was enough. Elec Monroe remembers Tamara at the races with her late husband and when they escape a charity event together, their building attraction leads them into a night that rocks both their boats. Instead of this being a one-night stand between an older woman and a younger man, Elec wants to meet her kids and get involved with Tamara for real. Can she risk a relationship with another driver? Can she let her kids get attached to him too? FLAT-OUT SEXY caught my attention both because of its mention of an older woman/younger man storyline but also because it wasn’t stressed. I already knew I liked Erin McCarthy’s stories and, even though I’m not a racing fan, I decided to take a chance on the book and I don’t regret it. Tamara is a woman who loves with her whole self and struggles between her growing love for Elec and her need to protect both herself and her children from the pain she feels is certain when the dangers of racing eventually make Elec a victim. Elec is really smitten by Tamara and her children and longs to make them his own. Will he have to give up his driving career to have them? I enjoyed FLAT-OUT SEXY quite a bit and one of the biggest reasons was that a huge deal wasn’t made of the older woman/younger man situation but neither was it ignored. The balance was just right. Add in the hot sex, the strong heroine and strong but gentle and family-focused hero and you have a very satisfying read in this latest story by Erin McCarthy.
