“Tory Monroe really didn’t intend to flash the guy.” Tory, hiding behind her alter ego Victoria Scarlet, is on the run from her ex-fiance. He of the dastardly and unfaithful heart. When her car overheats in a traffic jam, she lifts her shirt to cool off, flashes a trucker, and starts a chain of events that lands her in the grip of Rand Hart, Sheriff of Lovestruck, Tennessee. Rand learns pretty quickly that there are arrest warrants out for Tory, sworn out by the ex-fiance. Rand has to decide what he’s going to do … play Sheriff or play with Tory. Being that this is a romance, you can probably guess what he chooses. Along the way there’s a lot of steamy sex, a bit of role play, and a lot of good dirty fun. Tory tends to shake everyone up and wreak havoc wherever she goes. Ask the elderly gentleman she kisses … And when Rand starts flirting, he is totally yummy. Ultimately, Tory has to decide who she wants to be when she grows up. And she grows up fast when she has to face down her ex-fiancé over those pesky warrants. As fun as the story is, there are a couple of things I struggled with. I thought that Tory and Rand were pretty responsible, when they stopped a hot make out session to talk about using condoms - twice. Then they didn’t actually stop and use the condoms. This might not bother anyone else, but I got left hanging, wondering what had changed. I also struggled to accept some of the choices that Rand made when he decided to protect Tory. I thought both of these things should have had more consequences. My bottom line is that this is a fun book to read and I liked it overall.
