Tor is the High King of Leonor. Five years ago he met Sahara, then lost her to his brother. For years, Sahara has avoided him at every opportunity, going so far as to move with her husband out of the family home. Now a widow, Sahara is still out of reach to Tor. Until she shows up in his audience line and asks for a favor. Sahara is humanoid, but her biological clock is ticking in ways that Leonor society has not seen for generations. In order to have her, Tor has to face his past mistakes and may have to give up his future. In ASK FOR IT, Gail Faulkner has created an interesting world with quite the variety of characters. Leonor warriors value their women above all else, which leads to great conflict when it comes to Sahara. In order to have a relationship, Tor and Sahara have to finally give up their preconceptions about each other and what they need from each other. I have to admit – I enjoyed seeing Tor have to face up to his mistakes. His handling of Sahara was totally ethnocentric and he had no clue that what he’d done had been destructive to his love. His arrogant blindness cost him that which he most wanted - Sahara. When he finally realized what he had done to the woman he loved, he dedicated himself to making it right. It is when he admits his mistakes and moves forward that his true greatness is revealed. Not just as a king, but as a man in love. Sahara is not only Tor’s love, she carries the seeds of Leonor’s distant history. She is far more than she seems. When these two come together, their lovemaking affects everyone around them. Not just by the pheromone induced craziness that has men trying to knock down walls. Their lovemaking sets off a chain of events that may take Sahara from that which she most wants. Tor. Hot sex, great characters, and a story that has danger and self-sacrifice. This story has lots of things to like!
