Drawn to Guy Fieri like a moth to a flame, I diligently and reverently watch his show every chance I can get. The thought of owning his cookbook was almost too much for my happy heart to bear. Okay. That was over the top. However, DINERS, DRIVE-INS AND DIVES: AN AMERICAN ROAD TRIP WITH RECIPES! is not. It is a great cooking companion that lists recipes from all parts of Guy Fieri's American travels. With humor, feistiness, and just plain old easy to read text, the cookbook is easy to understand. In reviewing this cute cookbook, I decided that I needed to try at least two recipes in order to fully experience the aura that surrounds this cookbook. I anxiously perused DINERS, DRIVE-INS AND DIVES: AN AMERICAN ROAD TRIP WITH RECIPES! wanting to find the perfect recipe, or two, to sample. I finally decided on using the BBQ dry rub recipe on chicken and it turned out pretty tasty. The seasoning blend was near about perfect. My next selection was Captain Crunch French toast. Yes, Captain Crunch. As in the cereal. It was heaven on a plate and I am still full hours later! Nostalgia wise, DINERS, DRIVE-INS AND DIVES: AN AMERICAN ROAD TRIP WITH RECIPES! is a great cookbook to have. Guy's voice is predominant throughout the pages and I can envision him jumping around the kitchen with every recipe. Add in the anecdotes throughout the pages and not only do you have great recipes, but you get to laugh as well. Just a perfect combination! |
